REMEMBER . . . NEVER FORGET

I haven't done an entry in several weeks.  I haven't given up, there's just been so much going on.  I'll do an entry soon and try to write regularly.  I have so much to talk about, but today, we need to pause and remember September 11, 2001.  An unprecedented attack on our soil, and to borrow a famous quotation, a "date that will live in infamy"(Franklin D. Roosevelt, December 8, 1941).  Many of our fellow Americans died on this date.  When they left to go to work,  boarded the airplanes, and the man who was working on the television tower at the time of the attack, never dreamed that it would be their last day on Earth.  They never dreamed it would be the last time they would see their spouses, their children, their neighbors in this life.  We can never afford to forget, but as we all know, Americans have very short memories and have already forgotten much.

We have already forgotten what it was like, about those that died, not only citizens, but those that were running towards the danger while survivors were escaping - police officers, firefighters, EMS personnel, and the list goes on and on. Many paid with their lives. Remember how quiet everything was the next day?&nbsp It wasn't just because no airplanes were flying. It was an eery quiet. The nation was stunned. We didn't think it could happen . . . again. In 1941, we didn't think it could happen then either. History DOES repeat itself if we don't learn from it the first time.

Please pause for a few moments and remember the families of those left behind. Also remember our Armed Forces currently fighting for our freedom in Afghanistan and Iraq as well as their families. Thank a vet, no matter in what war they served. It's precious little for the sacrifice they made for YOUR continued freedom.

Hi Dirk- I missed coming by and reading yesterday.  I've been coming by every couple of days- so I'm glad to see you!  Yesterday I did think about so many things about that day. And about the families who are missing someone so much.  I didn't watch the news much either.  Seems like so many have forgotten- and want those who are mourning to put it behind them as well.  I say we MUST NEVER forget.  My son is 6 now- almost 7.  He was only a baby back then.  I showed him a few pictures on the net yesterday and explained what happened, and told him that's why our soldiers are fighting the bad guys in Iraq and Afghanistan now, and that after 9/11 happened, President Bush promised to go any where and everywhere to try and get the bad guys.  It's sad, but our kids understand more than we realize.  Another kid having to grow up knowing war.  I pray  we will win.  God Bless you Dirk- and our troops!  Carolyn

I am so glad you have this forum to show people the real heart of you and how smart you arel  Being away from you for five days has been incredibly hard.  Thinking how those people felt knowing that their loved ones are never coming home, I can never take my blessings for granted and I can never forget the shock and trauma of those families that day.
Let God arise and His enemies be scattered.

Hi Dirk,
I intend to "borrow" that super country hit about 9/11 'Have you forgotten' if you don't mind.  I could use some help on graphics too.  Thank you for that nice comment on my AOL Blog/ Journal.  I will be checking out your Blog from now on.
