Libertarian Party is a Hard-Core Libertarian.
explanation of political philosophy.

There are other parties that have candidates running for President this year, such as Chuck Baldwin (Constitution Party), Alan Keyes (American Independent Party), Gloria La Riva (Party for Socialism & Liberation), Frank McNulty (New American Independent Party), and Ralph Nader (Independent).  So far, I haven't been able to find an analysis such as we have had for the Democratic, Republican, Libertarian, and Green Parties.  It appears I'll be posting on the positions of the candidates themselves.  I'm hoping that when finished, all will be able to make an informed vote this November.

MORE ON IT'S NOT NECESSARILY WHO YOU VOTE FOR BUT WHAT

We are continuing to look at the Libertarian Party platform.

LIBERTARIAN PARTY ON ENVIRONMENT

  • GALE NORTON is ‘giant leap’ for environmental sense. (Jan 2001)
  • Government is the worst polluter. (Nov 2000)
  • The parties responsible for pollution should be held liable. (Jul 2000) (The upper management level people in the Environmental Protection Agency would have to be dismissed, so the field agents reports would not be re-written during the administrative approval process).

LIBERTARIAN PARTY ON FAMILY AND CHILDREN

  • Keep families free from government intrusion. (Jul 2000)
  • LIBERTARIAN PARTY ON FOREIGN POLICY

    • Tyranny around the world must be condemned. (Jul 2000)
    • No U.S. intervention in the affairs of other countries. (Jul 2000) (Can't have it both ways.  There are times when there is no other choice.  We spent way too many years "condemning tyranny", and I just know those words struck fear in the hearts of Third-World dicatators everywhere! Yeah, right!)

    LIBERTARIAN PARTY ON FREE TRADE

    • Remove governmental impediments to free trade. (May 2008)
    • Prosperity will come from unrestricted free markets. (Jul 2000)
    • Abolish all trade barriers and agreements. (Jul 2000) (As I've said before, we've experienced the consequences of so-called "free trade" already, mainly in the loss of manufacturing in the U.S.) China
    • Abolish all trade barriers and trade agreements. (Jul 2000) (Bill Clinton already gave Most Favored Nation status to Red China - one of our chief enemies.  Any nation that is NOT one of our allies, should NEVER have Most Favored Nation status for ANY reason.  But then, it's all about the money, so PRINCIPLE went right out the window).

    LIBERTARIAN PARTY ON GOVERNMENT REFORM

    • Repeal laws which restrict voluntary financing of campaigns. (May 2008)
    • The government should keep “hands off” the economy. (Jul 2000)
    • Abolish the Department of Energy. (Jul 2000)

    LIBERTARIAN PARTY ON GUN CONTROL

    • Affirm the right to keep and bear arms. (May 2008)
    • Repeal all gun control laws and regulation of weapons. (Jul 2000)

    LIBERTARIAN PARTY ON HEALTHCARE

    • Restore and revive a free market health care system. (May 2008)
    • Government should not be in the health insurance business. (Jul 2000) (I certainly agree on this one - ANYTHING the government tries to run ends up being a huge, costly, bureaucratic mess that doesn't accomplish what it was intended to do).

    LIBERTARIAN PARTY ON HOMELAND SECURITY

    • Military should defend against aggression; not world police. (May 2008)
    • Reduce defense spending by half; just defend the US. (Nov 2000)
    • Build missile defense privately, with federal “reward”. (Nov 2000)
    • Oppose any form of national service. (Jul 2000)
    • Eliminate nuclear weapons & bring all U.S. troops home. (Jul 2000)
    • Support resistance to the draft. (Aug 1981) (These are all "isolationist" policies, proven by history to be disastrous to national security.  Isolationism got us Pearl Harbor).

    LIBERTARIAN PARTY ON IMMIGRATION

Eliminate all restrictions on immigration. (Jul 2000) (Also disastrous to national security.  This would allow terrorists to just walk in here freely).

    LIBERTARIAN PARTY ON JOBS

    • Union activity by choice only. (Jul 2000)
    • No welfare & no restrictions on work. (Jul 2000)

LIBERTARIAN PARTY ON PRINCIPLES & VALUES

    • Encourage individual freedom without government interference. (Jul 2000)
    • Church and state should be completely separate. (Jul 2000)
    • No taxation or regulation of private property. (Jul 2000)

    LIBERTARIAN PARTY ON SOCIAL SECURITY

    • Replace the Social Security system with a private system. (May 2008)
    • Privatize Social Security. (Jul 2000) (While it's true private enterprise can do things much more efficiently than government, but when you mix government and private enterprise, the result is always a mess).

    LIBERTARIAN PARTY ON TAX REFORM

    • Repeal the income tax and abolish the IRS. (May 2008)
    • Repeal all income taxes, & the 16th Amendment. (Jul 2000) (This is just a feel good vote-getter.  Common sense says the government has to have income to function.  I agree with repealing the 16th Amendment, abolish the IRS, and eliminate the income tax system as it is now.  The system needs to be changed to a flat tax or a national sales tax.  Either way, the tax burden on all of us would be much, much lighter, ALL of our paycheck would come home, and either system would be a windfall for the government).

    LIBERTARIAN PARTY ON TECHNOLOGY

  • Oppose communication censorship, especially about religion. (May 2008)
  • LIBERTARIAN PARTY ON WAR & PEACE

  • Eliminate intervention by US abroad. (Jul 2000) (As above, this got us Pearl Harbor, and terrorist attacksagainst U.S. military installations and U.S. business interests abroad since the late '60's or so.  Our rhetoric of "filing formal protests" accomplished nothing).
  • LIBERTARIAN PARTY ON WELFARE & POVERTY

  • Non-profits more effective than government at “safety net”. (Apr 1999)
  • This finishes the Libertarian Party platform except for the analysis and graph.  That's next time (sort of like Wayne Brady on DON'T FORGET THE LYRICS, "we'll find out right after the break"!!!)

HOW MANY HOUSES SENATOR MCCAIN OWNS & HOW IT WOULD AFFECT U.S. FOREIGN POLICY WITH ENEMY NATIONS

My wife and I’s very good friend, LJ (queeniemart – sorry, not a clickable link here as is my custom – hers is a private journal) left a comment in my entry A LOOK AT SENATOR MCCAIN giving me an idea for an entry that I had been thinking about anyway.  Her comment may have been a reflection of what some people are thinking about in light of the big issue made out of how many houses Senator McCain owns.

When I heard all the hub-bub about a reply to an interview question by Senator McCain from POLITICO on August 20th.  The question was how many houses he and his wife, Cindy, owned.  Senator McCain’s response was, “I think – I’ll have my staff get back to you.”  With this, here came the Democrats, making a big issue out of it.  The same old class envy thing that the liberal left has been trying for years and years, and have actually been successful in dividing America this way.  I was never jealous of wealthy people.  Just for the record, I’m not a wealthy man (unless you use former President Bill Clinton’s definition of “rich”, then anything over about $20,000 a year was rich – my taxes sure went through the roof on this one and that’s about how much I was earning at the time).

Anyway, my first take on this was the desperation of the Democratic party, “snatching at straws”, because they know the Obama campaign is in trouble.  Even the acknowledged in an article (the AP logo is a clickable link) on their website on August 22, 2008 there is a “perception” that the Obama campaign has stalled.  I have been doing some reading on several sites, including CNN that shows Obama continuing to lose ground.  Many Hillary supporters interviewed after the announcement of SENATOR JOE BIDEN as Obama’s running mate yesterday have said they are not voting for Obama.  Obama also seems to be losing votes as voters hear more and more of his extreme radical views.  Even Senator Biden himself, just last year, said he did not believe that Obama was ready for the Presidency, and it was not a job that lent itself to on-the-job training.  Senator Biden continued that he (Senator Biden) would be honored to run with or against Senator McCain, and the country would be better off.  Here’s the video:

Getting back to the house non-issue.  My question is, what did a question like this have anything in the world to do with running the Presidency?  What does how much property or how much wealth ANY President has, Democrat, Republican, or otherwise, have to do with how that President deals with China? Russia? Iran?  Do you think Iranian President ManINeedAJob really cares?  Absolutely not!  It doesn’t have anything to do with anything.  I saw an article over the weekend that I wish now I had bookmarked so I could reference it here that was entitled, “McCain’s Rich”.  If time had permitted, I would have left a very short comment:  “News Flash:  SO IS OBAMA!”

This brings me to the point of all of this.  Such nitpicking is petty and an obvious move of desperation to try to revive Obama’s campaign.  What everyone needs to remember is this:  ALL WASHINGTON POLITICIANS ARE VERY WEALTHY PEOPLE.  They have to be in order to run for the office in the first place.  As we all know, Congress has it’s own “honey tree” complete with a very nice income of $169,300 per year to start, and a SWEET retirement plan they pay NOTHING into – sweet for them that is, not for us taxpayers.  So, when Obama points his finger at McCain as being “rich”, Obama ain’t exactly a poor man himself.

The Democrats are in serious trouble overall with what originally was to be a “Democrat sweep” this November.  According to the latest ZOGBY POLL, Congress’s approval rating has dropped from a recent 14% to 9%.  That is absolutely the lowest approval rating in history for any Congress.  Zogby also found that voters are not only angry at Congress, they are angry at THEIR OWN CONGRESSMEN/WOMEN.  This is not the norm.  Even when America is angry with Congress, people normally still like their own Senators and Representatives.

To close, a couple of quotes to show you how much trouble the Obama campaign is in.  LEON PANETTA, former White House Chief of Staff to Bill Clinton, said recently about Obama, “I don’t like the way this is going.  He’s gotta get tougher out there.”  And there’s JOE KLEIN, with TIME MAGAZINE, a liberal magazine, “Where’s the passion, Obama?  Can’t you say something that makes us feel like you care about it?”

One last thought, if I ever run for public office, and somebody asks me a question like that, I don’t think I’ll be as tactful as Senator McCain.  My answer, as a common sense middle class candidate, would be this:  “That has nothing to do with my ability to run the office, and it’s none of your business.  Next question.”

Don't make me come up there!

Thanks LJ for reading and your comments!  I really appreciate it!

    A LOOK AT SENATOR MCCAIN

In a prior entry about Senator Obama, Kate (katerh99) left a comment asking if I would do a “mirror image” on Senator McCain. It was a great suggestion (thank you, Kate!), so voters can see how Senator McCain stacks up on the same issue.  So, here we go!  As I can’t do it in one entry, I’ll make several, interspersed with my series on party platforms along with other items as they arise.  The first topic I’ve chosen is Senator McCain’s position on abortion.

Senator McCain has been very consistent with his position on abortion.  Senator McCain is opposed to abortion and believes that ROE vs. WADE should be repealed, but he understands that if it this was done immediately, there would be many women who would turn to illegal and dangerous operations to have abortions performed.

There has been a misquote from 1999 by the left claiming Senator McCain “flip-flopped” on this issue.  This is being used, possibly by the Obama campaign although I haven’t seen it, to try to insinuate that Senator McCain is wishy-washy on his abortion position.  Here is something from ON THE ISSUES website that was originally an interview on MEET THE PRESS: MEET THE CANDIDATES 2007.

Q: In 1999, you said, "In the short term, or even the long term, I would not support repeal of Roe vs. Wade, which would then force X number of women in American to undergo illegal and dangerous operations."

A (Senator McCain): That was in the context of conversation about having to change the culture of America as regards to this issue. I have stated time after time after time that Roe v. Wade was a bad decision, that I support the rights of the unborn.

Q: If Roe v. Wade was overturned during a McCain presidency, and individual states chose to ban abortion, would you be concerned that, as you said, X number of women in America would undergo illegal and dangerous operations?

A (Senator McCain): No, I would hope that X women in America would bring those children into life in this world, and that I could do whatever I could to assist them. Again, that conversation from 1999, so often quoted, was in the context of my concerns about changing the culture in America to understand the importance of the rights of the unborn.

IT'S NOT NECESSARILY WHO YOU VOTE FOR, BUT WHAT, CONT'D

This time we'll look at the LIBERTARIAN PARTY platform. Former SEVENTH DISTRICT REPRESENTATIVE BOB BARR and WAYNE ALLYN ROOT are the Presidential and Vice-Presidential candidates, respectively, on the Libertarian ticket.

As before, I am using ON THE ISSUES for the source and analysis of the party platform.  It's the best I've seen and includes a party voting analysis on various issues and plots the party's position on a graph.

    LIBERTARIAN PARTY ON ABORTION

    • Government should be kept out of the matter of abortion. (May 2008) (I don't think there's any backbone in this position - a problem we have too much of in Washington now).
    • Abortion is a woman’s choice and does not concern the state. (Jul 2000) (Not when it concerns the life of another human being.  Why is it that abortion is legal, that is, killing a baby, even one that is completely born except for cutting the cord, and some piece of filth that murders a pregnant woman, gets charged with TWO COUNTS OF MURDER?  A huge contradiction).

LIBERTARIAN PARTY ON BUDGET & ECONOMY

    • Reduce taxes, spending, and eliminate controls on trade. (Jul 2000) (I disagree on this one - we havealready seen too many consequences of trade that is too free. I do agree with reducing taxes & spending).
    • Abolish all regulation of banks in favor of free market. (Jul 2000)
    • Pass constitutional amendment requiring a balanced budget. (Jul 2000) (Not a bad idea, but won't happen.  Pork-barrel spending would have to stop, and none of them will give that up!)

    LIBERTARIAN PARTY ON CIVIL RIGHTS

    • Support individual's right to choose, even if we disapprove. (May 2008)
    • Repeal all laws against homosexuality. (Jul 2000)
    • Right to complete freedom of expression includes pornography. (Jul 2000) (I disagree.  Too much research involving the correlation between pornography & sex offenses. Limits to this freedom was ruled upon by the Supreme Court in 1919 in Schenck vs. U.S.:
"The most stringent protection of free speech would not protect a man falsely shouting fire in a theater and causing a panic. [...] The question in every case is whether the words used are used in such circumstances and are of such a nature as to create a clear and present danger that they will bring about the substantive evils that Congress has a right to prevent."
    • Redress the wrongs of the U.S. towards the Indians. (Jul 2000)

    LIBERTARIAN PARTY ON CORPORATIONS

No issue stance yet recorded by OnTheIssues.org.

    LIBERTARIAN PARTY ON CRIME

    • Three Strikes approach is illusory & dangerous. (Nov 2000) (Third time serious offense shows a pattern, & the offender has been granted more than ample opportunities to correct his/her behavior.  It's sad, but the only other alternative is to separate such people from the rest of the public for the public's safety).
    • Omnibus Crime Bill, including death penalty, has failed. (Nov 2000)
    • Encourage private efforts to fight crime. (Jul 2000)
    • Allow drugs, alcohol, prostitution, gambling, and suicide. (Jul 2000) (You think there's a DUI problem & STD problem now??)
    • Strengthen, not reduce, the rights of the accused. (Jul 2000)
    • Hate crimes are used to punish blacks. (Feb 2000) (Though I don't go along with the reasoning here, there should be no such things as "hate crimes."  One human life is not more valuable than another - murder is murder, for example, and should be treated as such.  I don't care what color or sexual orientation of the perpetrator or victim happens to be.  "Hate crimes" legislation is a politicization of human life & other crimes, and is unnecessary.  All crimes against people or property should be punished).

    LIBERTARIAN PARTY ON DRUGS

    • Repeal all drug laws creating "crimes" without victims. (May 2008) (No such thing as "victimless crimes". Drugs for example, is what drives the majority of burglaries & robberies.  If dope was legal, you think there is a problem with burglaries & robberies now . . . )
    • The war on drugs threatens individual liberties. (Jul 2000) (Only the individual liberties of dope dealers).

    LIBERTARIAN PARTY ON EDUCATION

    • Let parents control all educational funding. (May 2008)
    • Poor kids end up at worst schools in current system. (Nov 2000)
    • Separation of education and State. (Jul 2000)
    • End compulsory busing & compulsory education. (Jul 2000) School Choice
    • Support a market in education to provide more choices. (Nov 2000)
    • The state should stay out of education. (Jul 2000)
    • Treat private school funding the same as public schools. (Jul 2000)

    LIBERTARIAN PARTY ON ENERGY &OIL

  • Oppose government control of energy pricing and production. (May 2008)
  • More on the Libertarian Party platform later.

    A VOTE FOR OBAMA IS . . .

Here are a few of the things to expect if Senator Barack Obama is elected President.  Some of this is also supported by the Democratic Party platform, regardless of what Obama is saying to try to get votes. I know this is rather long, but it is all VITAL information that I think everyone needs to be aware of before they vote this November.

Obama's budget proposal is 60% larger than ANY ONE YEAR FEDERAL SPENDING INCREASE EVER. And just how do you think he intends to pay for it all?  That's right, massive tax increases on YOU and ME, since the government doesn't have one cent that belongs to them - no such thing as government funds.  It ALL comes from US.

Obama opposes offshore drilling to reduce gas prices and begin becoming independent of Middle Eastern oil (regardless of what Obama said recently, this is supported by the Democratic Party platform - see my earlier posts on the party platform.  Obama holds this position in spite of over 75% of the American public wanting to start drilling now).

Obama opposed the Born Alive Infants Protection Act in Illinois.  In other words, infants who survived an abortion attempt, would have NO protection and would be allowed to die.  Here is a  5 1/2 minute video on this very subject:

Here is a very short video, less than one minute in length, that shows a comparison between Senator McCain and Senator Obama on the issue of abortion:

Notice how Obama stutters and stammers.  This happens anytime he is confronted with something that has not been scripted by his professional speechwriters.  I believe that he is caught between being honest about his personal beliefs and saying what he thinks voters want to hear.

Obama has stated that if elected, he would meet with nations that sponsor terrorism with NO preconditions. I find this interesting since he has been officially endorsed by North Korean President Kim Jong-Il (terrorist enemy) and Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad (terrorist enemy) for starters.  Not to mention the illegal campaign contribution made by the three brothers who live in Hamas controlled Gaza (see my previous entry on this subject).

In case you can't play the above video, here is the script (Obama quotes in red): After just three years in the Senate Barack Obama demonstrates his poor grasp of basic economic principles.

While families face tough times his ideas to raise taxes are out of touch.

His promise to nearly double the capital gains tax hurts the middle class.

"...what I've said is that I would look at raising the capital gains tax for purposes of fairness."

"Your talking about 100 million Americans who own stocks that will get impacted by that capital gains tax increase."

"I think we can have a capital gains rate that is higher than 15%."

"Why raise it at all especially given the fact that 100million people in this country own stock and would be affected?"

Barack Obama also promises to raise the payroll tax cap on millions of workers and small businesses.

"I think lifting the cap is probably going to be the best option."

"The best idea I think is to raise the cap on the payroll tax."

Does Barack Obama understand our economy? Then why would he raise taxes at the worst possible time?

(The immediatley preceding script and video is from the Republican National Committee - and Senator Obama himself).

This is just for starters - the more one researches Senator Obama, the more only one conclusion can be drawn - Obama isn't right for America.

NEWS ALERT - MORE ON OBAMA'S GLOBAL POVERTY TAX

I got this from Christine O'Donnell, Republican candidate running against Senator Joe Biden, D-Delaware.  This is concerning the Global Poverty Tax and how Senators Obama and Biden keep trying to push it through.  It's also a good explanation of the disastrous results if it passes.  Here's the article:

Obama Supports Global Tax From United Nations
    by Christine O'Donnell

"For an entire week, Americans watched as Senator Barack Obama took his act on the road, courting the European elitists and cowtowing to an endless array of foreign politicians. At this point it may be easy to take Obama’s “celebri-plomacy” lightly. Yet, his trip highlights a dangerous threat to America’s national sovereignty in the form of his globalist policies that will diminish America’s role in the world and outsource decisions of vital national interest to the United Nations."

"His Global Poverty Act, currently under consideration in Congress, is just one such policy. Despite its seemingly innocuous title, the Global Poverty Act would force America to adopt the U.N.’s “Millennium Development Goals” as official U.S. policy. This means outsourcing to the United Nations all important decisions concerning the use of U.S. foreign aid dollars. Not only that, but the fee for allowing the U.N. to play the “middle man” in our global war on poverty would be a tax of .7 percent of the U.S. Gross National Product. That’s right. Barack Obama and his liberal allies such as Senator Biden have signed on to a bill that would allow the U.N. to tax America (and Americans) an estimated $845 billion over the next 13 years. Obama’s plan represents perhaps the greatest affront to our national sovereignty since the War of 1812."

"The Global Poverty Act dismisses the American ideals of a free-market economy and responsible government for a global bureaucracy that has already lost tens of millions in development funds to corruption. The measure demands virtually no accountability or reform from the impoverished and often oppressive nations who are the recipients of our charitable largess. Furthermore, the United Nations Development Program has become the favorite “rich uncle” of terrorist states and rogue regimes, accidentally funneling millions to North Korea’s illicit weapons programs and violating 95 U.S. export laws in the process."

"You might ask how this abomination has quietly made its way through Congress with barely a mention on mainstream media or by our representatives in Washington. The Global Poverty Act began in the U.S. House with only 84 co-sponsors and was quietly passed by a voice vote by Democrats and some well-meaning Republicans who did not know what was in the bill. Now, Obama has “taken the football” and launched a continuous effort to ram the bill through the Senate with the help of his new foreign policy lap dog, Senator Joe Biden (In the interest of full-disclosure, I should note that I am currently the Republican running against Joe Biden for the U.S. Senate in Delaware)."

"Senator Biden rushed the bill through the Senate Foreign Relations Committee with another voice vote and without any hearings. The Senate voted against the bill in February 2008, but now Obama, Biden and their liberal cohorts lay in wait to slip the bill past the American people by rolling it into another larger spending package like the so-called “Coburn Omnibus.”

"If we are not vigilant and allow Democrats in the Senate to sneak the “Global Poverty Tax” past the voters, wewill sacrifice our national sovereignty and set the dangerous precedent of allowing the United Nations to tax Americans. Our “reward” for our benevolence will be a bureaucracy that provides little accountability and no measurable returns on our hefty global investment."

"Without an insistence on serious economic and government reforms and accountability for every dollar spent, the U.S. will continue to spend hundreds of billions attempting to treat the symptoms of global poverty while at the same time feeding the disease. Reform and accountability are key to insuring that our investment in the fight against global poverty produces immediate and measurable results while providing freedom and long-term economic reform that give individuals the tools to lift themselves out of poverty and partake in the benefits of a free-market economy."

"Throwing more money at the problem is not the answer. Handing over the job to an organization renowned for its incompetence is a recipe for disaster. Our greatest export is our unique system of government and the ingenuity it fosters. Economic assistance coupled with measurable reform provides a pathway to prosperity and a petri dish for burgeoning economic opportunity—not just for developing nations but also for the U.S. We have only to look at our $17.5 billion in annual exports to India’s growing middle class to see the long-term benefits of promoting government and economic reform both through responsible development aid and private sector partnerships."

"America as a nation is at a critical time in her history. For 200 years, the United States has been a beacon of freedom and prosperity for the world. If we subjugate our leadership role to the U.N. and outsource our responsibilities to the United Nations’ Development Program, we will leave global prosperity and freedom to chance, crush the American economy with an $845 billion tax and fail all people throughout the world who aspire to all that we have achieved."

"The Global Poverty Act is the first battle in what is no-doubt a far-reaching liberal assault on our sovereignty, our prosperity and our role as the leader of the free world. Obama, Biden and other globalist Democrats want to turn the United States into a nation of followers, but I still believe that America has a unique role as a defender of the oppressed and an example to every person with the capacity to dream of a better life. If we shirk our responsibility now, we will lose our national soul and the free world will pay the price for our passing the buck."

    MORE ON OIL

I'm writing this to comment on an article that Ken, BUCKO, shared the other day.  It is part of his Campaign Corner series.  Check out Ken's journal.  It's a really good read, and don't forget to visit his wife, Beth, at NUTWOOD JUNCTION.  Both journals are very enjoyable reading.  Stop by and visit them!

In order to understand what I'm talking about here, click HERE to take you to the article in Ken's journal.

The solution to the high oil and gas prices is to increase production - here at home.  In the past, ANYTIME we started taking steps toward increasing production in the U.S. AND working on advancing technology to work towards other types of energy other than that derived from oil, OPEC has dropped its prices almost immediately.  Why?  Because they know if they sell it to us cheaper than we can have our own people produce, we'll buy it from them, and STOP moving towards our own production and STOP working on other types of energy, and STOP moving towards telling OPEC to, uh, well, you know.  This has repeated itself several times in my lifetime.  We need to drill now, & when oil prices drop, we DON'T NEED TO STOP drilling here AND working on alternative sources of energy.  You would think we would learn from history sooner or later, but there are no historians in Washington - obviously.  Conservation is fine, but we've been steadily increasing the fuel efficiency of our cars and trucks for thirty-three years, and we're more dependent on foreign oil than ever before.

As far as Obama having a change of heart about drilling here - don't kid yourself.  To be a Democratic candidate, he has to support & be committed to the party platform.  The Democratic party platform OPPOSES drilling here.  This link will take you to it: http://www.ontheissues.org/Democratic_Party.htm  Obama will say anything to get elected.  The party will allow him to say anything in order to be elected.  But once there, you can forget this one.  Always compare what any candidate says with their party platform.  What the party platform says will be what they do if elected.

Instead of finishing their job and doing what is needed to become independent of Middle Eastern oil, the House Democrats, led by none other than House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, went on their annual 5-week vacation (Senate Democrats stayed too, but not out of concern for you or me.  It’s to keep President Bush from making “recess appointments”, and it’s something they’ve been doing all year.  The go into session every three working days, with each session being about thirty seconds long).  Folks, that's how UNIMPORTANT this situation is to them.  Every one of them in Congress are all extremely wealthy people, so since it doesn't bring any hardships personally, they do not care.  Now the Democrats have been joined by several spineless Republicans on this.    Since OVER 75% of Americans want to start drilling here NOW, are the people WE elected actually REPRESENTING US?  The answer is a resounding NO!  This of course is but one example of how OUR interests are NOT represented in Congress.  As I stated in a post in my journal some time ago, I think we should vote these people out, and send a clear message to the incoming Congressmenand women they better do their job, represent US, because if they don't, don't bother running for re-election because it won't happen.

Green Party is a Hard-Core Liberal.
    explanation of political philosophy.

As you can see, the Green Party is as far to the Left as the graph will go.  This is much farther to the left and far more Socialist than even the Democratic Party.  Again, I hope this series isn't too dry and I really hope that it helps voters make a more informed choice.
