First, I would like to thank those who have stopped by and commented in my new journal. I really appreciate each of you taking the time to visit.
As the first thing I would like to talk about, I am going back to Sepetember 11th. I know we have heard so much about this unprovoked attack, but there are some things I think are worth pointing out. We can never afford to forget although most Americans obviously have.
One of the main things I would like to mention is that this was nothing new. Terrorist attacks against the United States have been taking place for years and years. The traditional U. S. response? Nothing. That's exactly why it continued unabated. There is a timeline of terrorism on the U. S. ARMY'S website that provides a number of examples of terroristic acts from 1960 - 2006. Be sure to click on this link and read the entire timeline to get the impact. It's well worth the time to get the full impact of terrorism since these incidents are not mentioned in the mainstream media. This includes attacks against other countries besides the United States. The U. S. response at the most was filing a "formal protest". That was a real deterrent!!! Our government tried negotiations. Negotiate with terrorists? They don't know the meaning of the word. As far as the terror organizations and the countries that provided funding and training for them were concerned, the U. S. would do absolutely nothing to stop it. So it went on. Many died. Then September 11th, it was brought home to us in a big way. Over 3,000 people died that day in a cowardly, unprovoked attack. Al-Qaeda and the countries that were behind them did not expect what happened next. President Bush's speech was probably seen as just more U. S. rhetoric. Instead, what I had been saying should have been done since I was in junior high school (which gives you an idea of how many years I'm talking about!) was finally done. In the words of a Marine, "we took the ballgame to THEIR five yard line." This is something that they did not anticipate and were no doubt shocked to say the least. The Taliban in Afghanistan was dismantled. Sadam Hussein's regime was toppled. Both were training grounds and sources of funding for terrorist attacks against the United States.
Which brings me to my next point - there are those that say that our going into Iraq was unjustified. It was every bit justified. Afghanistan was only half the equation if that much. Here is an exerpt from THE WEEKLY STANDARD (this links to the entire article) published January 16, 2006:
"THE FORMER IRAQI REGIME OF Saddam Hussein trained thousands of radical Islamic terrorists from the region at camps in Iraq over the four years immediately preceding the U.S. invasion, according to documents and photographs recovered by the U.S. military in postwar Iraq. The existence and character of these documents has been confirmed to THE WEEKLY STANDARD by eleven U.S. government officials.
The secret training took place primarily at three camps--in Samarra, Ramadi, and Salman Pak--and was directed by elite Iraqi military units. Interviews by U.S. government interrogators with Iraqi regime officials and military leaders corroborate the documentary evidence. Many of the fighters were drawn from terrorist groups in northern Africa with close ties to al Qaeda, chief among them Algeria's GSPC and the Sudanese Islamic Army. Some 2,000 terrorists were trained at these Iraqi camps each year from 1999 to 2002, putting the total number at or above 8,000. Intelligence officials believe that some of these terrorists returned to Iraq and are responsible for attacks against Americans and Iraqis."
This is something you will NEVER hear in the mainstream media. The idea in the media is to discredit the Bush administration and the War on Terror. This is why you never hear about the good things that have happened there since the liberation of Iraq. All you hear is a body count. What the Weekly Standard reported is what the War on Terror was all about. Stopping further terrorist acts. The only way to do that is AT THE SOURCE. Terrorist organizations are not poor financially as has been reported by the major news outlets. They are very well financed in order to obtain the weapons and training. Another lie perpetrated on the American public has been the emphasis on weapons of mass destruction (WMD's). Just the name of this war will tell anyone that WMD's were not what this was about. Even so, here is another exerpt from the same article in the Weekly Standard: "Most of the 50,000 translated documents relate directly to weapons of mass destruction programs and scientists . . ." Really? If we were to believe the mainstream media, this was just something concocted by the Bush Administration to go into Iraq. Now it's coming out that there were WMD's. Major fringe benefit of eliminating this horrible regime. I agree with the author of the article that these documents should be made public. They're not all translated yet, but as they become available, I think they should be released. I urge you to read this article in its entirety for yourself.
One of the purposes of this journal is to inspire thought. If you disagree with me, at least you have to think about WHY you disagree. Please read these sources for yourself and draw your own conclusions instead of just taking my word for it. Thank you for reading.

One thing that most Americans do not understand is the mind set of a
Islamic Extremist. A Russian President stated the truth about the way they think.
Almost everyone has seen the movie The Matrix well, how did Neo
look at the Matrix when they were fighting the machine? It was like they were
not real right?
Well, a Islamic extremist look at you as if, your of no consiquence.
Because you are not Muslim. The more westerners and Zionist they kill, the closer
they are to Allah.
How do I know this well, lets just say I was in the military for awhile
and because of my job and my experiences overseas I have seen things. Their are
movie stars and famous celebrities that would like you think their way that their
way. When they go overseas they are treated special. Tell them to try going
there without their star status.

"9/11 Possibility"
Most people believe in being politicaly correct but, when it is concidered
to being politicaly incorrect to talk about our unsecure border. You step over the
lines. You that play the race card, forget about it. It don't work I am a native
American/Naturalized Citizen and a disabled vet.
After 09/11/01 we promised, as a Country, to those who were murdered and to ourselves that we would not allow the terrorists another opprotunity to do another cowardly 9/11. Did We Lie?
The border being secure is about feeling safe enough to go to sleep
at night.
So my proposal is, on Sept. 29, 2006 the congress, senate and the
president passed a border fence bill allowing 1.2 Billion dollars to build a fence
as long as 700 miles. As of 6/21/07 20 miles have been built, Why?
09/11/01 to 07/08/07 the border fence has not been secure, WHY?

"9/11 Possibility (cont.) "
6 years and 10 months is too long to wait for our government to do its
job.
09/11/07 If they have not secured our border by then, which of course
they wont have the time. Everyone that is able go to your own state, State
Capitol Building to build a human wall around it.
Remember Ted Kennedy trying to black mail the senate saying in the
Amendments of the immagration/amnesty bill was 4.4 Billion dollars that the
border fence will not get.
Those who can not get away to go to their capitol, Phone, E-mail or,
Write your congressmen, senator or president(providing it arrives on 09/11/07)
They did listen to us about the amnesty bill but they did not hear us
on a secure border. Time to send a message to Washington that they might
understand. They may have given up on us but, let them know we did not forget
your promise of a secure border.
Hi Dirk, its Lisa Jo. I have you on alerts and will read. I am really open minded and i am sure we can agree and disagree and still get along. I agree that the US took TOO long to react to the terrorist attacks that happen or were going to happen to our country but i do not agree with your point of view on this war. My biggest beef with Bush is not the war, its the state of education and the economy though. Cant wait to read more!!
lisa
Dirk love the video:) I agree America has waited to long to fight back. Bush did the right thing but he didn't go far enough. Yes we got some of the terrorists but not all of them. Yes we did surprize them but they moved to Iran. So sad to say this is not over. I pray we get a President who will stand up to the wicked people. And just my thought i hope its not Hilary.

I have so many different thoughts on this topic. I don't agree with the war. It really bothers me that we spend BILLIONS of dollars to help other countries while we can't properly take care of our own. Healthcare, Education, Poverty, Hunger...all of these problems going on right here, yet we are sending troops into other countries (some that don't even want us there) to fight for them...and to be killed....for them. I also feel like the overseas operation was poorly planned and thrown together at the last minute for publicity. We weren't prepared and we got into something way over our heads. Now we can't fix the problems, more people are dying everyday, people are losing patience. They say another attack on the US is imminent...and we probably will not be prepared to protect ourselves because our troops are overseas protecting the people who are attacking us.
It's a huge mess.
((hugs))

The invasion of Iraq was justified by the alleged presence of weapons of mass destruction. They were never found post invasion. It was also justified because Saddam Hussein was allegedly involved in 9/11. That was never proven. The invasion of Iraq was a figment of George W's psyche, because he wanted to finish the job that his daddy didn't have the balls to finish in 1990/91. By 2003, SH was militarily not a credible threat, and the US administration could have strangulated his regime by simply waiting. SH was hamstrung. However, that's all water under the bridge. Heaven knows how Iraq will pan out in the years to come.
Here, here!!! Bravo! I will be checking your links. But I agree with you already. In fact, after a young girl I work with made some comments about the war the other day, I've had this scenerio in my head that even if there was no evidence of WMD or direct involvement with Al-Qaeda, our leaders would have been justified and looking out for our national best interest to invade Iraq. No one disputes Hussein was a despot. He deserved what he got just for crimes against his own people. - I can see men around a conference table. Saying it won't be long.....they'll hit us again! Too many fronts to look out for, too many methods to guard against. What can we do to protect ourselves? And some general says, "Let the US Military do what it does best. Let it go and move the front line away from US soil. Let these highly trained and brave men be the targets of their hatred. The only way to combat pure evil is to stand boldly on the side of Right and Truth and look it square in the eye and call it what it is. -
Body counts are a sad and tragic result of any war. As sad as our totals are, they are nothing in comparrison to past sacrifices. Don't they think our leaders knew what storming Normandy would cost....at least closely? Don't they think those men knew what they faced and exactly the price they could pay? That they considered it worth it? The greatest generation stood and faced evil and pushed it to bay. I'm only one generation removed from them. Be humble before God. Be bold before nations! - Barbara
HI- I agree 100% with everything you said. I like to see people doing their own homework instead of taking the so called mainstream's word for it. I am so sick of hearing the same old Bush Lied, people died bit- what makes them think that when the enemy comes here that they will get a free pass from the islamonuts?! They will be in for a rude awakening. I wish the left would all just go home, and let our guys do their jobs- and win. I've seen some very good articles with so many quotes from our soldiers who are so fed up with the talking heads for the left here at home, it makes me so sad for our guys. Keep up the excellent work, adn God Bless you! Carolyn
I AGREE, sam
Hi there, I've added you to my alerts. I consider myself a conservative Republican (however I am not closed minded to a smart conservative Democrat either...it's just that I've never found one) , and I'm really looking forward to what you have to say. I live south of Seattle and Seattle has one conservative radio talk show on AM that seems to faded in and out most of the time. Hmmmm funny how that might happen. I am so sick and tired of the Bush bashers in this country. They don't have a clue about how things really are. Anyway, I am looking forward to your future entries. Linda in beautiful western Washington
Thanks for the info. I didn't know all the facts, and never knew how to answer when people asked where I was coming from. Thanks for the facts.

"IMAGINE"
Imagine this if we had not gone to war with Japan and Germany in WWII. Would we feel ashamed of ourselves after finding out millions of Jews died at the hands of Hitler?
Now people say what does the Iraq war have to do with it? Well since
you asked I will tell you. In WWII we were attacked in Pearl Harbor in WWIII
we were attacked in New York City.
Just because they go under a differant name don't be confused, it is
still the same evil. Now I will make the connection. Alot of attention was made on
the German and Italian enemies in Europe but less news was made about the
middle east enemies.
The Nazi allies of the middle east, this is where Iraq, Iran and, other
dictators get their dictator indoctorines. Irans study on the Holucaust. Saddaam's
simalarity to the tourturing ways of Hitler.
This is a continuation of WWII. These are hold overs from WWII.
The problem is that President Clinton lowered the U.S. Forces in favor
of a high tech force. New President Bush lacked the forsight to see ahead of
what was needed to complete the mission.
We need to get past the why and go to now that we are in this mess.
