ISRAEL'S 60TH ANNIVERSARY TODAY!

On May 14, 1948, Israel officially became a sovereign nation after the loss of Jewish independence about 2000 years before.  Below is a video that shows footage of the original UN vote in November 1947 that officially recognized the sovereign nation of Israel.  For those of you that are familiar with Bible prophecy, this was a major fulfillment of Ezekiel 37:21: "Surely I will take the children of Israel from among the nations, wherever they have gone, and will gather them from every side and bring them into their own land."  Since the video is a little long, almost nine minutes, I will keep this brief by making only one other point.  The United States, as I said in an earlier post, MUST understand that the Palistinians, as well as Israel's other enemies, are not interested in peace.  Their only interest is the total destruction of Israel.  Just minutes after President Bush described Israel as a democracy battling the forces of terror today, a rocket hit a shopping mall in southern Israel.  According to NEWS REPORTS, ten people were injured, but fortunately no one killed.

Very interesting!  I hate to admit this but it wasn't long ago (few years) that I learned that Israel was a "new" country.  I wasn't the best History student in school.

It really is awful that the Palestinians can't get along with Israel.  About 10 years ago, going through some info on international shipping, I noticed that most Arab/Muslim nations refuse to accept any shipments from Israel or that have contents that originated in Israel.  I guess it was then when I realized the full scope of the hatred between them.  Keep in mind that I'm not much for international politics in the first place.

Happy belated birthday, Dirk!  (just got done reading N's entry).

Many more birthdays to you!
