MORE OF "IT'S NOT NECESSARILY WHO YOU VOTE FOR, BUT WHAT"

I have selected the GREEN PARTY platform as the next party.  Cynthia McKinney, former Congresswoman from Georgia, has won the nomination.  She has selected Rosa Clemente as her running mate for Vice President.  This will be broken up into several entries, and again, I am using ON THE ISSUES for the analysis.  Here's the first installment:

GREEN PARTY ON ABORTION

  • Keep safe & legal abortion. (Jun 2000)
  • Cover abortion under national health care system. (Jun 2000)

GREEN PARTY ON THE BUDGET & ECONOMY

No issue stance yet recorded by OnTheIssues.org. (Interesting since this is one of the top issues for the American people).

GREEN PARTY ON CIVIL RIGHTS

  • Require affirmative action. (Jun 2000)
  • Equality by sexual orientation, including gay marriage. (Jun 2000)

GREEN PARTY ON CORPORATIONS

No issue stance yet recorded by OnTheIssues.org

GREEN PARTY ON CRIME

  • Opposes death penalty. (Jun 2000)
  • Focus on crime prevention instead of harsher sentences. (Jun 2000) (We already have untold numbers of crime prevention programs and strategies.  There are many perpetrators that we have no choice but to separate them from society for public safety.  Watering down sentences will only lead to more crime.  Today's criminals are not interested in being rehabilitated nor do most of them have any remorse for what they've done.  Their only interest is "how much time do I have." That's it.)

GREEN PARTY ON DRUGS

  • More drug counseling & treatment. (Jun 2000) (At who's expense? You guessed it - YOU AND ME!  There are drug counseling and treatment programs practically on every street corner now.)
  • Replace Drug War with treatment and alternative sentencing. (Jun 2000) (In other words, end drug enforcement and let it get worse than it is now.  This one is a contradictory.  In order to have any kind of "alternative sentencing", you have to catch them first!)

GREEN PARTY ON EDUCATION

  • Support choice within public schools. (Jun 2000) (In other words, you have the right to choose what's best for YOUR child, as long as it's LIMITED to the government schools).
  • GREEN PARTY ON ENERGY & OIL

Reduce greenhouse gas emissions now; more later. (Jun 2000) (???)

    GREEN PARTY ON ENVIRONMENT

Tax industrial pollution. (Jun 2000) (Just like the Democratic party - the answer to everything is more taxes.)

GREEN PARTY ON FAMILIES & CHILDREN

Support personal responsibility; teach dispute resolution. (Jun 2000)

    GREEN PARTY ON FOREIGN POLICY

    • Support social and economic justice across the globe. (Jun 2000) (How? Through an Obama-style Global Poverty Act?)
    • Assist Russia & Israel in moving towards better governments. (Jun 2000) (I didn't know Israel needed a better government.  This sounds anti-Israel to me.)
    • Support human rights as cornerstone of US foreign policy. (Jun 2000)

I'll have more later. Thanks for reading!

Hi Dirk!  Sorry, but I breezed through this one quick.  I wouldn't vote for Cynthia McKinney if I was threatened with death!  The woman is a nut to put it politely. And the Green party is for everything I am against anyway~  God Bless though and thank you for all your hard work!!  Carolyn
